About Us

Nestled in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, the Cheshire School of Glass is an educational centre offering you a range of creative glass courses in a beautiful setting. 

Our team is led by Jennifer Barker, one of the UK’s leading glass artists, whose 30 years as a maker and educator will ensure your experience is both enjoyable and highly rewarding.

For all of you garden lovers, we have a course that not only will teach you the basics of how to cut and shape glass, but also have you making a stunning 3-dimensional coloured glass flower with a steel base and an accompanying glass art panel (all included in your course fee).

 

Intro to Glass Fusing

Taking your first steps in working with glass, we’ll teach you the basic skills required to confidently cut and shape glass and kiln-fire your own glass art creations. You’ll can choose to make a series of small hanging panels or a bowl of your own design

Stained Glass for All

Our 2-day stained course will provide you with all of the necessary skills to cut, shape, lead and solder your own stained glass panel. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to improve your skills, this course will offer something for everyone

Jennifer Barker

Fused Glass

 

Jennifer has been working with glass for over 25 years, having studied the medium at both Wolverhampton and Staffordshire Universities, completing a Masters degree in 3-dimensional Glass Design.

Alongside her teaching at CSG, she also manages Melt Designs, her own successful glass art business, having produced a wide-ranging portfolio of commissions for both private and commercial clients.

Jen’s specialist areas include kiln-formed glass, surface manipulation and kiln-casting, She has produced and run glass design courses from her own studio as well as Pearsons Glass in Liverpool, participated in masterclasses and has established herself as a leading figure within the glass art industry in the UK.

Kat Walton

Stained Glass

Kat runs the stained glass and copper foiling programmes at CSG and is a hugely experienced glass artist, having studied BA and MA programmes at Sunderland University specialising in architectural glass for the latter two years.

Kat has had experience working with Linley Stained Glass and is currently working for the prestigious stained glass specialists Recclesia Glass in Harwarden, where she specialises in leaded panels, copper foiling and painting glass. 

Kat’s teaching experience extends beyond 15 years, including courses at Pearsons Glass in Liverpool. She is a passionate, knowledgable, and inspiring educator and an invaluable member of the CSG teaching team.
