Skulls, sprinkles and a splash of magic!

Decorate a Day of the Dead skull in glass with a film playing in the background – and the tricky bit already done for you.

Your skull outline comes beautifully screen-printed onto the glass before you arrive, which means no drawing, no tracing and absolutely no artistic pressure. All you have to do is the lovely bit: bringing it to life with our wonderful array of glass dots, strands, sprinkles and a good helping of magic.

Practical Magic plays quietly in the background while you work, so you can indulge your inner child, catch up with friends and make something genuinely beautiful all at the same time. Two hours later your piece goes into the kiln, and you’ll have a finished glass skull to hang in your window every October from now on.

What You’ll Do

• Decorating with glass dots and strands – build up pattern, colour and detail across your printed design
• Working with sprinkles and frit – the fine scattered glass that gives depth and texture
• Choosing your colourway – bold and graphic, or delicate and intricate, entirely up to you
• Understanding how glass changes in the kiln – what melts, what holds its shape, and why
• Hanging hooks – we fuse tiny glass hooks straight into your piece so it’s ready to hang

Our instructors are on hand throughout, so if you’re not sure whether something will work, just ask.

What You’ll Make

One fused glass Day of the Dead skull, approximately 20cm square, complete with its own glass hanging hooks. No frame required and no fixings to buy – it comes out of the kiln ready to go straight up.

These pieces really come alive with light behind them. The dots and sprinkles catch it differently depending on how thickly you’ve layered them, so yours will look like nobody else’s, because nobody else will place the glass quite the way you do.

Bring Your Own

This is a bring-your-own evening – bring a bottle and your favourite nibbles, and we’ll provide the glasses. Bring a friend too, if you’d like. It’s a sociable, relaxed sort of night rather than a rowdy one, which is rather more than can be said for anything happening on screen.

Why This Evening?

Most Halloween craft leaves you with something that goes in the bin by November. This doesn’t. A fused glass skull is a proper piece – solid, glossy, colourful – and it’ll come out of the loft every autumn for years.

It’s also about as gentle an introduction to glass fusing as we offer. Because the screen printing is done for you, there’s no drawing skill required and no way to get it wrong. You spend the whole evening on the enjoyable part and still go home having made something you’ll be genuinely pleased with.

Collection & Firing

Your piece is fired in the kiln after the session and will be ready to collect a couple of days later – or whenever suits you, there’s no rush.

We do recommend collecting in person if you can, partly because these are delicate, and partly because opening the kiln lid on your own piece for the first time is half the fun.
